Nunez Community College and Delgado Partner to Offer Transfer Pathways

June 18, 2019

Nunez Community College signed an articulation agreement with Delgado Community College on June 17 that will offer students at both colleges enhanced access to more educational opportunities.

Signing the agreement were Dr. Tina Tinney, Nunez Chancellor; Dr. William S. Wainwright, Delgado Interim Chancellor; Tonia Loria, Nunez Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs; and Dr. Mostofa Sarwar, Delgado Interim Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and College Provost.

The historic agreement establishes a pathway for Nunez students to transfer coursework and complete an Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology, Respiratory Technology or Radiologic Technology at Delgado, and for Delgado students to transfer coursework to complete  an Associate of Applied Science in Process Technology or Aerospace Manufacturing Technology at Nunez.

“This articulation agreement opens the door for bright, highly motivated students who want to experience all that our two colleges have to offer in academic quality, convenience and preparation for career success. Students will truly be able to benefit from getting the best of both, and to achieve educational goals that may otherwise be more difficult or even impossible to attain,” said Wainwright.

Tinney noted that the "first of its kind" agreement celebrates the sharing of resources and new opportunities for students.  "This 1 + 1 agreement represents access and opportunity that will remove barriers for our students and provide a seamless transfer for both Nunez and Delgado students. It is a unique and innovative pathway," said Tinney.

The main Nunez Community College campus is located at 3710 Paris Rd. in Chalmette, LA. Delgado's seven locations are anchored by the historic City Park Campus at 615 City Park Ave. in New Orleans.

Both Nunez and Delgado are accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate degrees, certificates and diplomas.
