Delgado Theatre Production of ‘She Kills Monsters’ Opens Virtually on November 13

October 22, 2020

The Delgado Community College Theatre Program announces their latest production, the contemporary comedy “She Kills Monsters: Virtual Realms” by Qui Nguyen. In the wake of the COVID-19 crisis, author Qui Nguyen adapted the script of his popular play for a solely virtual performance.

“She Kills Monsters: Virtual Realms” tells the story of Agnes Evans following the death of her sister, Tilly. When Agnes finds her deceased sister’s Dungeons and Dragons notebook, she stumbles into a journey of discovery and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was Tilly’s refuge. This dramatic comedy is laden with homicidal fairies and nasty ogres, and is a heart-pounding homage to the geek and warrior within all of us. This exciting production will be performed online using live actors and video conferencing.

Students from the Delgado Theatre Program will perform the play. The director is Kris LaMorte.

The production staff includes scene design by James Means, lighting and sound design by Tom Dawson, puppet design by Kenneth Thompson and costume design by Shelby Lynn Marie Butera.

The play opens Friday, November 13, and will be broadcast live for every performance. The production will run two weekends, November 13-15 and again on the following weekend, November 20-22. The curtain times for each performance will be at 7:00 p.m.

All tickets are $10, sold online only at tinyurl.com/y29pn49w. Patrons will receive a link and passcode for accessing the broadcast upon purchase. Ticket sales will directly benefit the Delgado Theatre Department’s future productions.
