Message From The Dean

Cristina Alvardo-Suarez Headshot

Welcome to the School of Construction Arts and Technical Studies (CATS)! Our mission at CATS is to introduce students to the design philosophies, methodologies, theories, and techniques necessary to continue their education in the fields of construction arts, motor vehicle technology, cosmetology, and technical studies.

CATS fosters an environment in which exceptional teaching and learning takes place. Courses adhere to standards established by national industry associations and may fulfill requirements for students transferring into accredited baccalaureate programs.  Students are strongly encouraged to work with a faculty advisor to select appropriate courses for their selected program.

Our faculty are dedicated to instilling their knowledge, field expertise, and experience in their students. Program leaders are seasoned in their crafts and bring years of expertise to the classroom. Whether you are a dual enrollment, high school graduate, or adult learner, you will find that our programs prepare you to critically and analytically solve problems, while advancing your ability to procure gainful employment post-graduation.

We are proud to be one of the founding schools at Delgado Community College. For over 100 years, we have continued to educate and train the next generation of artisans in the traditions of building arts, motor vehicle technology, and craftsmanship in the Greater New Orleans area. We welcome you to be a part of this history!
