Web Accessibility

Delgado Community College is committed to making its website accessible to the widest possible audience, including individuals with disabilities. The College strives to meet the accessibility and functionality of online content according to the World Wide Web Consortium’s (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0) Level AA for web content.

The Delgado website was redesigned and relaunched in July 2018 as part of a large web accessibility remediation and quality improvement project. The new website boasts the following improvements over the former website:

  • a fully ADA-compliant web template, designed for ease of use with assistive technologies
  • reorganization and improvement of semantic HTML content structures
  • inclusion of videos with closed captioning
  • improved mobile friendliness

The Delgado website will be continuously improved over the coming months and years to better serve our students and the community. The second phase of Delgado's web accessibility initiative will involve training web content authors and content management system users in best practices involving accessibility and web content development.
