February 11, 2025
Ochsner Health System to Be Recognized for Its Contributions to Nursing Education
Delgado Community College’s Charity School of Nursing is proud to host its annual Honors and Promotion Ceremony on Monday, February 17, at 1:30 p.m. on the second floor of the Student Life Center on the City Park Campus. This special event celebrates the academic achievements of nursing students and recognizes the unwavering support of key partners in advancing healthcare education.
A highlight of this year’s ceremony will be a special recognition presented to Ochsner Health System, as voted on by faculty, in honor of its steadfast dedication to shaping the future of healthcare. This acknowledgment reflects Ochsner’s invaluable contributions to nursing education, particularly through interprofessional activities and simulations that enhance student training and development. Healthcare professionals from Ochsner will also be recognized for their ongoing commitment to mentorship and excellence in patient care.
“This ceremony represents a meaningful tradition for our nursing division,” said Delgado Charity School of Nursing Dean Jennifer Fernandez. “While we no longer hold the historical ‘white cap ceremony,’ we continue to honor our students' progress by awarding a gold bar at their one-year milestone, symbolizing their dedication and advancement in the nursing profession.”
Beyond celebrating student success, the event underscores the powerful impact of community partnerships. Ochsner’s presence at the ceremony will serve to inspire future healthcare professionals and showcase the many career opportunities available within the organization. Additionally, alumni will present scholarships to students, continuing a cherished tradition of investing in the next generation of nurses.
