‘Building Futures’ Fundraising Event Brings Business and Education Leaders Together to Support Delgado

On May 17, the Delgado Community College Foundation hosted “Building Futures,” a fundraising luncheon to benefit three academic programs at Delgado Community College: Construction Management, Information Technology and Motor Vehicle Technology.

The event attracted about 200 attendees and raised nearly $90,000 to support student success in the three programs. It took place at Galerie de Galatoire in the French Quarter of New Orleans.

Those attending were welcomed by the event’s primary organizer, Todd Trosclair, CEO of All-Star Electric and a member of the Delgado Foundation Board. Also on the program were Troy Duhon, owner of Premier Automotive and founder of Giving Hope NOLA; Leon L. Giorgio Jr., Delgado Foundation Board chairman and president and CEO of Select Properties, Ltd.; and primary speaker John Georges, owner of The Times-Picayune/The Advocate and chairman of Georges Enterprises.

From Delgado Community College, speakers included Dr. Larissa Littleton-Steib, chancellor; Arlanda Williams, vice chancellor for Workforce Development and Institutional Advancement and dean of the Technical Division; and Dr. Peter Cho, dean of the Business and Technology Division and executive dean of the Delgado West Bank Campus.

About 50 regional businesses participated as sponsors of the event. Major sponsors included: Giving Hope NOLA, Hancock Whitney Bank, the Lemoine Company, Manning Architects and Ochsner Health.

Delgado Community College celebrates 100 years of service to the New Orleans region in 2021. The oldest and largest community college in Louisiana, Delgado provides instruction online and at seven locations.
