Delgado Mourns the Loss of Ed Daniels

Delgado Community College mourns the loss of WGNO’s award-winning Sports Director Ed Daniels. He was a great friend to Delgado and a true advocate in advancing the mission of the College. 

Delgado and WGNO partnered on Ed Daniels’ Friday Night Sports and Friday Night Fastball programs over the past decade, highlighting the Delgado Athletic Department’s deep ties to our community. With that partnership, Mr. Daniels filmed countless interviews with Delgado students and instructors to share not only our excellence in athletics but also the College’s wide-ranging and outstanding educational programs. 

“Ed Daniels was a highly respected member of the local news community and an unwavering Delgado supporter. We are grateful for everything he did to showcase the importance and value of a Delgado Community College education. On behalf of the College, I extend my heartfelt condolences to Ed Daniels’ family and friends,” said Chancellor Larissa Littleton-Steib, Ph.D. 

 For Delgado Athletic Director and Head Baseball Coach Joe Scheuermann, Ed Daniels was a close friend and colleague. He said, “Ed was a pillar of the New Orleans sports community. He was particularly dedicated to supporting young athletes and sharing their accomplishments far and wide. His promotion and support of our student-athletes on and off the field and court was second to none. Our entire community shares this tremendous loss.”
