Ochsner Flight Care Team Visits Respiratory Therapy Students at City Park Campus
June 21, 2021
The Ochsner Flight Care team visited the Delgado City Park Campus this morning, June 21, for a meeting and demonstration with students and faculty from the Respiratory Therapy (RT) program in the Division of Allied Health. Several members of the visiting Flight Team have studied or taught at Delgado. Rene Randall, MS, RRT-NPS, Delgado Respiratory Therapy Program Director, coordinated the visit with Ochsner.
Ochsner Flight Care provides transport services for critically ill neonatal, pediatric and adult patients. The transports are conducted primarily by helicopter with an immediate response radius of 275 miles from Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans.
The Flight Team consists of highly skilled, specially trained Registered Nurses (dual-licensed as EMS Practitioners) and Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRT), all with advanced credentials in their respective fields. Every transport is staffed with two clinicians, each with a minimum of three to five years of critical care/emergency medicine experience. Medical Crew Members hold certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), as well as many other nationally recognized critical care certifications.
