Delgado Recognizes Ochsner Partnership at Nursing Ceremony
February 11, 2025
Delgado Community College’s Charity School of Nursing recently hosted its annual Honors and Promotion Ceremony, marking a significant milestone for nursing students as they received their gold bars, symbolizing their successful completion of their first year of nursing school and transition into the second year of their studies. This ceremony, rooted in tradition, celebrates the dedication and perseverance of students on their journey to becoming healthcare professionals.

A highlight of the event was the recognition of Ochsner Health for its outstanding contributions to nursing education and workforce development. Representing Ochsner at the ceremony was Susan Salomone, Assistant Vice President for Workforce Development and Career Services, who was honored for her leadership in pre-apprenticeship, apprenticeship, and career coaching programs. Salomone has played a key role in shaping Delgado’s curriculum and instruction while also mentoring students as they prepare for their careers. Earlier this year, she provided valuable job interview tips in a presentation to help students succeed in the hiring process.
“Having Ochsner involved in this pivotal event is not just an honor; it is a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish when we work together with a shared vision,” said Jennifer Fernandez, Dean of Delgado Charity School of Nursing. “The lasting impact of Ochsner's support reverberates in the growth of our students and the continued success of our programs. It is a testament to what can be achieved when organizations like Ochsner dedicate their resources, care, and passion to shaping the future of healthcare.”
As Delgado students celebrate their achievements, the collaboration with Ochsner continues to provide them with invaluable opportunities for growth, mentorship, and success in the field of nursing.
