Spring 2018 Graduate Presents Gift to Joey Georgusis Center for Children
May 24, 2018
Ariel Alonso, a member of Delgado's Spring 2018 graduating class, donated a “little library” to the Joey Georgusis Center for Children as her legacy of being a member and president of the Omega Nu chapter of Phi Theta Kappa honor society at Delgado Community College.
According to Kim Russell, Omega Nu chapter adviser, Alonzo “wanted to leave a legacy of books for the children. She filled the library so that the children can take the books home if they want to read them. Plus, the chapter will continue to collect books to keep the library going at the center.”
In April, Alonso was recognized as a 2018 New Century Transfer Pathway Scholar as the most outstanding two-year college student in Louisiana planning to transfer to a four-year college or university. She graduated May 15 with an associate degree in general studies with a biological science concentration. She plans to attend the University of New Orleans.
