Delgado Chancellor Honored as Executive of the Year in Education

January 12, 2022

Biz New Orleans magazine, an award-winning monthly business publication, has published its annual Executives of the Year feature story. The Executives of the Year honor is highly prestigious and influential among the regional business community.

Dr. Larissa Littleton Steib, Chancellor of Delgado Community College, is honored as the Executive of the Year in Education. She is one of six individuals included, each one representing a different sector of the regional economy: biotechnology, development, education, entertainment, healthcare, and law. Each executive is a leader whose influence is felt throughout each field and in the region as a whole.

“We’ve had one hit after another, but we have managed to rebound,” Dr. Steib said in her interview. “We are resilient, and I am just so proud of what Delgado Community College has been able to do in spite of what we faced this past year.”

From the feature story: “Littleton-Steib has many reasons to be proud. Hired in 2019, she’s had to endure the COVID-19 pandemic for most of her term. As the virus seemed to wane this summer, Hurricane Ida struck. Still, 2021 was a banner year for the school, which is celebrating its Centennial. In March, education research firm Intelligent.com named Delgado one of Top 50 Community Colleges in the nation. That same month, the school broke ground on the Ochsner Center for Nursing and Allied Health. In July, Delgado reached a credit transfer agreement with University of Holy Cross, meaning its students can now transfer their Delgado credits to every public and private school in the state. To top it off, the $9.3 million Advanced Technology Center on Delgado’s West Bank Campus opened in August.”

“Each year, we face the difficult task of selecting our CEO and Executives of the Year,” said Chris Price, Biz New Orleans managing editor. “The task is difficult simply because New Orleans is so rich in leadership, innovation and ideas. This year was no different, except for the fact that our leaders faced monumental obstacles in 2021, from pandemic pivots to hurricane delays. Despite all, each one excelled in their field and provided unparalleled services to the New Orleans business community. We look forward to a new year, one which we are sure will be rich with opportunities and continued development.”
