Delgado Theatre Production of Molière’s ‘Tartuffe’ Scheduled October 2-6

The Delgado Community College Theatre Program announces their latest production, “Tartuffe” by Molière, translated by Richard Wilbur.

“Tartuffe,” which debuted in 1664, is about a fraud and a pious imposter who has succeeded in winning the undying devotion of the wealthy Monsieur Orgon. When Tartuffe plots to marry Orgon’s daughter, seduce his wife and steal the deed to his property, only a miracle can save the family from certain ruin.

“Tartuffe” is directed by Kris LaMorte. Students and staff from the Delgado Theatre Program will perform the play.

The production staff includes scene design by James Means, lighting and sound design by Tom Dawson and costume design by Cecile Casey Covert and Shelby Lynn Marie Butera.

The play opens Wednesday, Oct. 2, at the Timothy K. Baker Theatre, 615 City Park Ave., first floor, City Park Campus. The production will run one week only: Oct. 2 – 6. Curtain times for Wednesday-Saturday performances are at 8 p.m. and the Sunday matinee on Oct. 6 is at 3 p.m. (closing performance).

Tickets are $12 general admission; $10 Delgado students, faculty and staff; $8 for all area high school students with student group rates available. Thursday, Oct. 3 is Delgado appreciation night when all tickets for Delgado students, faculty and staff are only $8.  For online reservations, go to Eventbrite.
