Delgado Nursing and Allied Health Programs Use Cutting-Edge Simulation Technology for C-Section Training

October 17, 2024

Delgado Community College’s nursing, respiratory therapy and surgical technology programs will participate in a medical simulation that includes a simulated cesarean section (C-section) delivery on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at 9 a.m. in the Ochsner Center for Nursing and Allied Health (Building 14) on Delgado’s City Park Campus at 615 City Park Avenue.

This state-of-the-art training helps prepare students for real-world medical emergencies, offering invaluable practice in a safe, controlled environment. To that end, the Ochsner facility houses a “virtual” training hospital that mirrors the operations of an actual hospital to simulate real-life clinical environments, providing nursing students with immersive, hands-on learning experiences. The virtual hospital is equipped with life-like manikins, designed to replicate human anatomy and simulate vital signs and a variety of medical conditions and scenarios, enabling students to build skills and confidence in patient care.

As the demand for skilled healthcare professionals grows, Delgado continues to lead by offering innovative training on state-of-the-art technology, producing highly qualified nurses and allied health professionals to meet the evolving needs of the industry. Moreover, Delgado’s interprofessional approach to training by including both nursing and allied health students further supports preparation for real-life medical environments in which various disciplines must collaborate to provide comprehensive care.
