The School of Construction Arts & Technical Studies (CATS) at Delgado Community College hosted a successful Dual Enrollment Open House in March at the River City Campus. More than 60 new families visited Delgado as the College welcomed the third cohort of Jefferson Parish High School students into five in-demand programs: Instrumentation & Controls, Precision Machining, Industrial Automation & Electrical, Computer-Aided Design & Drafting, and the newly launched Diesel Technology program.

Attendees included Jefferson Parish School Board leadership, high school principals and counselors, and industry partners from the Jefferson Parish Economic Development Commission (JEDCO), all of whom play a vital role in supporting career and technical education opportunities for local students.

“This event highlights the strength of our partnerships and the growing interest in technical education in Jefferson Parish,” said  Cristina Alvarado-Suarez; Dean of the School of Construction Arts & Technical Studies. “We are proud to offer programs that lead high school students directly to high-wage careers. These students will support the hiring needs of our industry partners.”

The Dual Enrollment program allows high school students to earn college credit while gaining hands-on experience in technical fields, setting them on a path to success in both higher education and the workforce.

Special thanks to the dedicated faculty, staff, and industry partners who make these programs so successful.
