CDL / CVO Training Course
State Requirements to obtain a Commercial License Permit:
- Have a current Medical Examiner’s Certificate (MCSA5876). Physicals must be performed by a medical examiner certified by the National Registry of Medical Examiners. The medical form/physical must be in the STUDENTS possession at all times, he or she is operating the truck.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Have a valid class “A”, “license, issued by the same jurisdiction that issued the CLP.
- Provide proof of Louisiana residency. Acceptable documentation includes but is not limited to the following: a Louisiana voter’s registration card, Louisiana property tax receipt, copy of rental agreement within the State of LA, utility statement (telephone, gas, water, cable) with applicant’s name and address.
- Pay $15 application fee at DMV.
- Complete a CDL Supplemental Form (DPSMV2211), initially and anytime the type of commerce changes.
- Background check that is to be completed at your LSP office. We can take this out. No background check is needed for our program.
What You Will Learn:
Intro to Trucking – a brief introduction of what you will be studying, plus discussions about the trucking industry and DOT qualifications
Hours of Service/Log Book – going through hours of service regulations, as well as the driver’s daily log and logbook
Competency Development – studying competency areas for your test at DMV, including air brakes and combination vehicles
Backing Maneuvers – Basic procedures for operating vehicles and tractor-trailers
Vehicle Maneuvers – More advanced procedures for operating vehicles and tractor-trailers as well as shifting and driving vehicles
Vehicle Inspection – Methods and documentation for inspections
