Transfer Probation and Suspension
Transfer Students on Academic Probation
Transfer students who are on academic probation and who have a cumulative grade point average below 2.0 at their previous institutions will enter Delgado on academic probation. At the end of their first semester/session, they will be suspended if they do not achieve a 2.0 grade point average for the semester/session.
They will be placed in good academic standing if their first semester/session average is 2.0 or higher. The student's academic statuses at the end of each subsequent semester of attendance at Delgado will be based on the Delgado cumulative/semester average only.
Transfer Students on First-Time Academic Suspension
Transfer students who have been suspended for the first time from an accredited college or university may be admitted to Delgado. If admitted, the students are placed on academic probation and may enroll in up to 12 credit hours for the fall and spring semesters and 7 credit hours for the summer session. At the end of their first semester/session at Delgado, the students will be placed in good academic standing if their first semester/session average is 2.0 or higher.
If the student's first semester/session is in the fall semester and they do not achieve a 2.0 semester grade point average, they will be placed on a second-time suspension (the first-time suspension being from the previous institution) and must remain out of school for the following spring semester.
If the student's first semester/session is in the spring semester and they do not achieve a 2.0 semester grade point average, they will be placed on a second-time suspension (the first-time suspension being from the previous institution) and must remain out of school for the following summer session and fall semester.
If the student's first semester/session is the summer session and they do not achieve a 2.0 session grade point average, they will be placed on a second-time suspension (the first-time suspension being from the previous institution) and must remain out of school for the following fall semester. However, they may appeal to attend the following fall semester in accordance with the procedures outlined in the College’s Academic Appeals policy.
The student's academic status at the end of each subsequent semester of attendance at Delgado will be based on the Delgado cumulative/semester average only.
Transfer Students on Second-Time Suspension
Transfer students who are suspended for a second time for academic reasons from other accredited colleges or universities must remain out of school for the following regular (fall or spring) semester.
