Assistive Technologies
City Park Campus Assistive Technologies Center
The Assistive Technologies Center has adaptive computers for students with documented disabilities. It is located on City Park campus in Building 10. The Assistive Technologies Center has computers with the following programs and assistive devices:
- JAWS is specialized software with a computer screen reader for students with visual impairments and students with learning disabilities;
- Zoom Text is a computer access solution for students with visual impairments. It consists of screen magnification and screen reading. It allows student to see and hear everything on the computer screen;
- Dragon Naturally Speaking allows students to talk to a computer instead of typing. As the student speaks, the words are transcribed onto the screen and into your documents or e-mail messages;
- WYNN is designed to assist students with learning disabilities read written materials on a computer with a scanning program;
- Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) allows students with visual impairments to read written materials on a monitor. Students can enlarge the print so that it meets their needs.
- The Open Student Lab in Building 10 has adaptive computers for students with documented disabilities.
West Bank Campus Learning Resource Center/English and Math
The Learning Resource Center (LRC) has adaptive computers for the students with documented disabilities. It is located on West Bank campus in Building 1 Room 107 (LRC English and Math labs). The LRC has computers with the following programs and assistive devices:
- JAWS is a specialized software with computer screen reader for students with visual impairments and students with learning disabilities;
- Zoom Text is computer access solution for the students with visual impairments. It consists of screen magnification and screen reading. It allows student to see and hear everything on the computer screen;
- Dragon Naturally Speaking allows students to talk to computer instead of typing. As the student speaks, the words are transcribed onto the screen and into your documents or e-mail messages;
- WYNN is designed to assist students with learning disabilities read written materials on a computer with scanning program;
- OpenBook is designed to assist persons with low vision. It allows you to customize the appearance of text on your screen, including font, size, character spacing, and background/character colors; and
- HP (Hewlett-Packard) Scan Jet 6300C Flatbed Scanner.
West Bank Campus Library Building 2
The West Bank library has an adaptive computer for students with documented disabilities. It is located in Building 2 Room 126. The following programs and assistive technology are available:
- JAWS is a specialized software with computer screen reader for students with visual impairments and students with learning disabilities;
