MJ Foster Promise Program
M.J. FOSTER PROMISE PROGRAM
The M.J. Foster Promise Program helps eligible students pay for college and career training. Students can receive financial assistance to attend a qualifying program at a Louisiana public community or technical college, public university, or an approved private career school licensed by the Louisiana Board of Regents.
The program supports students working toward an associate degree or a short-term credential that prepares them for high-demand, high-paying careers that are important to Louisiana’s workforce needs.
The program is named in honor of former Louisiana Governor Mike J. Foster.
Program Notice
Effective July 1, new applicants to the M.J. Foster Promise Program must be at least 21 years old to qualify. Students who are under 21 and have already received an M.J. Foster Promise award may continue receiving funding as long as they meet all program requirements and remain eligible.
All M.J. Foster Promise Program Award payments are contingent upon funding availability and are paid as outlined above on a first-come, first-billed basis.

* Important Note: Students must have a current year FAFSA on file before applying for the M.J. Foster Promise Program except if the program is Title IV ineligible as determined by the participating school.
