General Studies Degree in the Humanities
Welcome
With the eclectic and culturally rich backdrop of a city like New Orleans, what better academic area to study than a discipline that celebrates what it means to be human? The devoted faculty, the tradition of excellence in our students, and the wealth of resources at the college all combine to make the Humanities a vital part of the Delgado difference.
Purpose
A general studies concentration in the Humanities offers students a wide variety of liberal arts disciplines to study and combines them together in a core curriculum that easily transfer to four-year institutions. It is ideal for students interested in The Arts, Philosophy, History, Literature and creative means of human communication.
What are the Humanities and Why Study Them?
The Humanities are academic disciplines that study the human condition, chiefly in areas such as The Arts, Philosophy, History, Languages and Literature, as opposed to natural processes (the sciences). Regardless of one’s career goals, an education in the Humanities instills a greater capacity for creative thinking, analytical problem solving, and enriched human interaction.
