Why Study Sociology at Delgado?

As a Delgado Community College graduate with an associate of general studies degree with a concentration in sociology, you will have a foundation for better understanding and engagement with the global world.  You will obtain the tools needed to make sense of the shifting social world and contribute solutions to difficult social problems in the 21st century.

The study of sociology provides insight into important issues of our time, such as changing definitions of family, gender, and sexuality; race and ethnic relations; and global economic, political, and environmental challenges..


Mission Statement

The mission of Delgado's Psychology department is to support the College and the larger community.  It does so by providing a diverse, dynamic, scientific and personalized learning environment that inspires student achievement, fosters academic excellence, promotes service, and facilitates lifelong learning.

Psychology courses promote the development of knowledge, skills and and values that will enable students to think critically about behavior and mental processes, to appreciate and respect others and the diversity of human experiences, and to prepare for a variety of educational pursuits with a respect for and appreciation of how psychology contributes to the improvement of the human condition.
